Slow Horses
Plus Community Writing Times
I’m obsessed with Slow Horses, the books and the show, starring Gary Oldman and Kristin Scott Thomas.
Last fall the New Yorker ran a piece about the author of the series entitled, Is Mick Herron the Best Crime Novelist of his Generation? But the article that really spoke to me was the recent feature on Herron in the NY Times, where he talked about failure, a topic that doesn’t get as much attention as it should. How it’s a crucial part of life, especially a creative life.
“I empathize more with failures than I do with successes,” he said. “Looking back, I remain at a stage where I’ve been a failure for longer than I’ve been a success. So until it balances out, I’ll always feel that way.” — Mick Herron
Here’s to getting back up, and sitting back down and plugging away. — Chris
