Legos and Siberian Pop

Ahoy, kiddies! Look at us, cruising into June like we haven’t a care. The weather is finally on our side here in Upstate NY, and I’m gonna spend part of the weekend out in the yard, planting. Mmm. One of the best ways to recall the goodness of life. I hope some of the tidbits below do that for you, too. Enjoy!

• Otyken is Siberian indigenous band made up of several ethnicities: Chulym, Ket, Khakas, Dolgan and Selkup. The group mixes elements of local folk music with modern pop, incorporating traditional instruments, lyrics and languages. Definitely slaps.

• The work of Hannalie Taute is witty, mordant and titillating.
