Dance, drums and an upcoming gig
Hi friends — oof, what a time. The assault on our nation, our citizens, our communities continues. But so does the glorious resistance. I see so much creativity and life and spark in it. That’s the real story—the light and sparks coming from good people all over the country. I hope the sparks below bring you sustenance today. Enjoy!
An artist friend in Minneapolis shared this with me — all kinds of creative resistance going on.
The kids are more than alright. Gives me hope.
Oh, Bjork, I adore you. Here she is on Conan in 1998, freshly out of the Sugarcubes, and blasting into the world with her own sound and songs. Still fresh.
This guy’s work is really sharp. Sculpture that makes one imagine the body differently. Here’s his stuff in the Beautiful, Bizarre Artists site.
I CANNOT stop watching this. Also added the music track to my workout playlist. Mmm.
Cool new video by Harry Styles — more dancing!
OK, this is totally my jam. An easy way to make something special out of plain-old, probably-have-in-the-house ingredients.
Gloria Vanderbilt: a true style icon.
The amazing Hazel Scott. Here’s a short bio of her.
Dayum, Salin is a whole thing! Here she is in a short video from a couple years ago. This is new, a live clip with band. Great vibe.
I’m committing here, in front of all of you, to making it to London sometime this year. And this spot is way up on the list of must sees.
Really sucks that Catherine O’Hara died. Here’s an all-time fave scene.
We got so much snow here in Woodstock, NY! This is the backyard. Check out how the chairs have no legs.
Heads up for those of you in the NYC area—I just booked a night at a beautiful little club in the East Village called Pangea. I’ll be performing an evening of original songs with my pal and musical collaborator Jeremy Bass. I am SO excited about this! Been dying to get back to performing, and the songs are gems. The show is Saturday, May 2nd. I’ll share a ticket link when I have one. In the meantime, I wish you a sweet, peaceful weekend. — Chris

Congrats on the NYC gig!!
Diana Vreeland was one of a kind. Alas, her fabulous son Freck just passed away recently at age 98. At least we have his memoir to look forward to. And your Pangea gig!
