A perfect object:
Several years ago, my husband and I went to see Rickie Lee Jones perform at Levon Helm’s Barn, a wonderful, intimate space in Woodstock, NY. It was stormy that night, and throughout the evening we could hear rain falling on the roof. At the end of a beautiful show, she closed with this song. I remember it so clearly, one of those moments when it felt like time stopped and an alternate reality was revealed.
Walid al Damirji is a British Iraqi designer who uses vintage fabrics to make handmade clothes, wall hangings, upholstery and more.
I’m just learning about the ancient rock art of Australia’s Northern Territory. It’s a remarkable collection of images and sites dating back 50,000 years, representing some of the oldest and longest running historical records of any group of people in the world .
